Where to find the best deals on foreclosures
Our analysis of nationwide foreclosure property sales in the last seven months shows that while some areas of the country documented a plethora of properties in foreclosure and big savings on foreclosure purchases, other areas reported relatively low foreclosure inventories and smaller average savings on foreclosure purchases. All five of the states with foreclosure markets most favorable to buyers and investors reported annual foreclosure rates of more than 1 percent of total households along with increasing foreclosures in 2005. It’s important for buyers and investors who are interested in the foreclosures market to carefully evaluate local market conditions before diving into foreclosures in any given area.

Dealing With the Affordability Quandry
Especially in light of the new consumer index just announced by the California Association of REALTORS®. First-Time Buyer Housing Affordability Index (FTB-HAI) , it is a wake-up call for first timers in that it measures the percentage of first-time buyers who can legitimately afford to purchase a median-priced home in California. As of Q2 2006 the index stood at 23 percent, down from 26 percent for the previous quarter and 30 percent for Q2 2005. In addition to real estate investors and agents, the RealtyTrac website can be a great help to first-time homebuyers looking for a way to get into a home at a price that is more affordable, even in areas where prices seem out of reach for most people.

Foreclosure Activity Up 7 Percent in March
With 149,150 foreclosure filings reported nationwide in March, U.S. foreclosure activity was up 7 percent from the previous month and 47 percent from a year ago, according to RealtyTracs foreclosure market report that was released yesterday. Foreclosures Up Across the Board in November
Foreclosures hit their highest level of the year so far in November, with 120,334 new foreclosure filings reported nationwide during the month, according to the RealtyTrac U.S. Foreclosure Market Report released last week. The report shows increases in all three phases of the foreclosure process — default, auction and bank repossession. Defaults and auctions each accounted for about 40 percent of the total, while bank repossessions accounted for about 20 percent of the total. Foreclosures Don't Back Down in September
Foreclosure activity in September didn’t back down much from the jump reported in the previous month, RealtyTrac reported today. RealtyTrac’s monthly foreclosure report shows 112,210 properties entering some stage of foreclosure during September, a decrease of less than 1 percent from August but an increase of more than 63 percent from September 2005. September’s foreclosure rate of one new foreclosure filing for every Colorado, Nevada and Michigan posted the highest state foreclosure rates, and California reported the most foreclosure activity of any state in terms of sheer numbers.

Foreclosures Exceed 100K for Fifth Month
