High-End Foreclosures Rising Among Top Tier Homes
Seven-figure foreclosures — once a rarity in 2007 — are starting to pop up with more frequency in some of the wealthiest communities nationwide. Already, there’s a glut of McMansions in the $500,000 to $1 million range that have been foreclosed by lenders — and many more are falling into foreclosure, according to an analysis of RealtyTrac foreclosure records in 2006 and 2007 (see graphic). Lenders Asked to Clean Up Unhealthy Foreclosures
So far in 2007 four people have died from West Nile Virus — two in Kern County, one in San Joaquin County, and one in Colusa County — prompting Gov. One of the downsides of taking back foreclosed properties for the lender is the obligation and cost associated with managing those REOs — some of which are bound to be vacant for a while, especially with the extended time it is currently taking to sell real estate in the Golden State. Not only are foreclosures unhealthy for the economy, apparently they can be unhealthy for people as well. At least unhealthy enough that, in an unprecedented

Room Enough for a Catnap
Well, for one family it was the right time, an attractive property, and so they came off the fence and pounced at the opportunity of occupying a foreclosed property — quite literally, given that it’s a family of bobcats. A quick comparison of two zip codes in the Lake Elsinore area — 92530 and 92532 — shows a 17 percent increase in foreclosure filings in July from the previous month in both zips, while there was a 200 percent and a 138 percent increase in foreclosure filings respectively from July 2007. In this lackluster real estate market potential homebuyers have been sitting on the fence, observing from the sidelines as the number of foreclosures keeps going up and home prices keep plummeting.
