Bank Repossessions (REOs) accounted for 28 percent of all activity during the month, while defaults accounted for 41 percent and auction notices accounted for 31 percent. This shift in percentages shows that a higher proportion of properties that enter the forecosure process are ending up repossessed by lenders. Money’s writers and editors selected from an initial pool of 745 “livable” cities with populations of more than 50,000 with good jobs, low crime, quality schools, plenty of open space, lots to do, AND rational home prices.     Home prices were down again in May, but a few regions of the country experienced a ever-slight uptick in prices from the previous month, giving officials at the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight (OFHEO) a chance to be cautiously optimistic in the press release announcing the numbers.     Shari Springer Springer Realty The Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors reported May 6 that 1,794 single-family homes were sold in April, a 21.4 percent jump over the 1,478 homes sold in March.
