U.S. Foreclosure Activity Surges in First Quarter
Foreclosure Market Report released today. The report documents a total of 437,498 foreclosure filings, which include default notices, auction notices and bank repossessions, during the quarter and a quarterly foreclosure rate of one foreclosure filing for every 264 households — the highest quarterly foreclosure rate since RealtyTrac began issuing its report more than two years ago. Stacking Up 2007 Metro Foreclosure Rates
It was the usual suspects topping the 2007 MSA Foreclosure Rate Rankings released by RealtyTrac today. Detroit, Stockton and Las Vegas were the top three, each with more than 4 percent of total households in some stage of foreclosure during the year. Of course if a large number of people do that it could flood the rental market and drive down rental rates.
