Metro Foreclosures: California Catch-up
But those four cities still documented the four highest metro foreclosure rates among the top 100 cities, according to RealtyTrac’s just released Q2 U.S. A few cities posted increasing foreclosure activity in the second quarter, including Stockton, Calif. (up up 2 percent from the previous quarter), and the Texas cities of Austin (up 7 percent) and Houston (up 40 percent). Foreclosure activity decreased in the majority of the nation’s 100 largest metropolitan areas in the second quarter of 2006, including Indianapolis (down 32 percent from the previous quarter), Atlanta (down 37 percent), Dallas (down 12 percent) and Denver (down 18 percent).

California Tops PMI's Risk Index
Seven out of the 10 riskiest housing markets in the nation for home price deflation over the next two years are located in California, according to the Winter 2007 PMI U.S. The San Francisco-San Mateo-Redwood City, CA, metro area came in 11th place with a score of 588. Market Risk Index just released by the PMI Mortgage Insurance Co. Studying the 50 largest Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSAs) in the nation, scores increased for 34 out of the nation’s top 50 over a year earlier, with an average score of 342.

Foreclosures Take a Spring Break
