Foreclosures up 13 percent in February
Indiana and Colorado werent too far behind, with one new foreclosure for every 427 households in Indiana, and one new foreclosure for every 443 households in Colorado. Texas and Florida were on top in terms of sheer number of foreclosures. RealtyTrac released our February 2006 foreclosure numbers today, and they show U.S. foreclosures increasing for the third month in a row.

  • Foreclosures Exceed 100K for Fifth Month
    Colorado, Nevada and Georgia posted the nation’s three highest state foreclosure rates despite decreasing foreclosure activity in all three states. Colorado’s foreclosure rate of one new foreclosure filing for every 376 households was nearly three times the national average. Texas foreclosure activity increased 4 percent, helping the state reclaim the top spot from California in terms of total foreclosures. U.S. foreclosure activity dropped 9 percent in December, backing down from a November foreclosure total that was the year’s highest.

    Colorado documented the nation’s highest state foreclosure rate, with total foreclosure filings representing 3 percent of the state’s households. Texas reported 156,876 foreclosure filings during the year, the most of any state and nearly 13 percent of the national total.   • Foreclosures Begin 2007 at Two-Year High
    That was up 19 percent from the previous month and up 25 percent from January 2006. After dominating the headlines with the highest state foreclosure rate for much of 2006, Colorado’s foreclosure rate dropped to fourth highest among the states thanks to a slight decrease in foreclosure activity in January. Texas, California and Florida continued to report the top three monthly foreclosure totals among all the states.
