Foreclosures Fade in World Series Spotlight

Top Metro Foreclosure Rates
Fifteen of the cities with the top 25 metro foreclosure rates in the first half of 2007 were located in California, Florida and Ohio, according to the R ealtyTrac Midyear 2007 Metropolitan Foreclosure Report , released yesterday. Las Vegas Foreclosure Activity Map
Since weve posted a foreclosure activity map for both Stockton and Detroit , I thought we should probably also include a map of Las Vegas, given its one of the top three on our list of 2007 metro foreclosure rates . Just like in Stockton and Detroit, the foreclosures are stacked on each other. In fact, we could only include activity from December because there were just too many foreclosure filings from the fourth quarter to fit on the map. California Tops PMI's Risk Index
Of the top 50 metros, 19 face a more than 50 percent chance of declining home prices through the end of 2008. The Sacramento-Arden-Arcade-Roseville, CA, metro area topped the list with a score of 604 (a 60.4 The San Diego-Carlsbad-San Marcos, CA, and Oakland-Fremont-Hayward, CA, metro areas tied for second place with a score of 603. While foreclosure activity in the first quarter of 2008 was up on a year-over-year basis in 90 percent of the nations 100 largest metropolitan areas, according to the RealtyTrac Q1 report issued today, there were a few notable exceptions that could prove to be a harbinger of hope for the nations battered housing market.

Foreclosures Begin 2007 at Two-Year High
Substantial increases in foreclosure activity in Detroit and Atlanta helped drive up the foreclosure rates in Michigan and Georgia. Detroit’s foreclosure total more than doubled from the previous month, giving it the nation’s highest metropolitan foreclosure rate — one new foreclosure filing for every 124 households.
