Saccacio, chief executive officer of RealtyTrac, said a jump in foreclosures at a time of year that traditionally is the busiest for home sales means the slide in prices probably isn't over. “Such strong activity in the midst of the typical spring buying season could foreshadow even higher foreclosure levels later in the year,” said Saccacio. “Certainly Top 10 Foreclosure Rate RealtyTrac’s report said six of the Top 10 metro areas with highest foreclosure rates were in California. A growing number of American homeowners across the country are getting foreclosure notices, according to new data released this week by RealtyTrac.

Exclusive Interview with Dave Webb of Hudson & Marshall
It looked like what Detroit looks like now. We’ll be selling 100 to150 properties a day in the metro Detroit area. We also have auctions scheduled in Colorado on April 19, where 150 homes are for sale; Las Vegas on April 20, where 300 foreclosures are on the block; and the Washington, D.C.-Maryland Maryland metro area, where 45 properties are on the block. As foreclosures continue to mushroom, lenders are increasingly turning to the auction block to sell foreclosure properties. In April, Foreclosure News Report will spotlight the fast-growing foreclosure

Foreclosure activity in Detroit was down nearly 4 percent from the first quarter of 2007, although the citys foreclosure rate still ranked No. Dispatches from Detroit indicate that free-market forces may be the catalyst. While foreclosure activity in the first quarter of 2008 was up on a year-over-year basis in 90 percent of the nations 100 largest metropolitan areas, according to the RealtyTrac Q1 report issued today, there were a few notable exceptions that could prove to be a harbinger of hope for the nations battered housing market.

The Trickle Down Effecting High-Tech
Results of a survey conducted during the fourth quarter of 2007 by The NPD Group , a market research firm servicing the retail sector, revealed a direct correlation between areas hard hit by the housing crisis and a marked decrease in the sale of consumer electronics — like LCD televisions and notebook computers — and related products such as printer ink and paper. The five — Sacramento, Tampa, Phoenix, Detroit and Orlando — were also among the nation’s top metropolitan statistical areas (MSAs) ranked by foreclosure rate, according to RealtyTrac, for the

Local Market Perspective: Seattle, Wash.
Over the past three months, my clients and I have presented nine contracts to pre-foreclosure, REO and short sale sellers. In the Northern Seattle area there currently very few REO properties, and in terms of real short sales, I have seen under 10 that are decent over the past month. The Seattle metro area has a strong economic foundation with many companies doing extraordinarily well due to international business. Out of those nine contracts, nine have been beat by better offers. I
